November 29th marked an important milestone in my student life and my quest to find answers, question prevailing notions and fight to make Communications Design a true profession. Research, writing and organizing certifyD presented a variety of challenges and doubt into my process. Nonetheless, I was pushed and motivated by many passionate individuals, my peers, fellow students, professors and YOU the design community.
Regardless of whether we agree or disagree on certification, terminology and professional standards, one thing has become clear: we are all aware of the power of design thinking and we care about what we do, why we do it and for whom. certifyD achieved its initial goal, bringing people together to Speak, Share and Commit. The event was documented, photographed and data was collected, and all that information will take its place on this website within the next few weeks. I thank everyone who made it possible and everyone who cares enough to raise their voice and speak their mind. An open dialogue is the only way to accomplish anything of value, anything meaningful. Last night was proof of that.
